From a young age I was diagnosed with something called gynecomastia which is when males have enlarged breasts. For many years I was ashamed of the issue but was never sure exactly what action to take. Finally, just before my 25th birthday, I underwent a male breast reduction procedure in Los Angeles, and the results were absolutely wonderful.
There is of course something of a stigma attached to anything involving men and breasts, but the truth is that issues are more common than you may think with some men even contracting breast cancer. The decision to undergo this procedure was not one which I took lightly but the results have given me a huge boost in confidence and helped me to feel more comfortable in my own body. If you are facing a similar situation to what I was, here is alit more about the procedure and what you can expect.
Solution
Apparently over 50% of men have some form of gynecomastia yet just under 5% actually take any action to overcome the issue. In my case I was told by many doctors that weight loss was the best thing for me yet despite losing weight, my breasts never seemed to reduce. The reason as to why I decided to have this surgery done was so that I could rid myself of this problem once and for all, and it worked very well indeed.
Other Options
Breast reduction surgery isn’t the only option if you have enlarged breasts, you could also opt to have liposuction on the breast area. Lip is obviously a non-invasive technique but the success rate is much lower with lip when compared to surgery.
The Procedure
The essence of the procedure to reduce the size of your breasts is to open up the skin and remove tissue from the breast region. The length of the surgery and the location of the incision and extraction of the tissue will greatly depend on how severe the case is. In my case it took just over an hour and whilst it did hurt and it was a tough surgery, I was able to do it as an outpatient.
Aftermath
The recovery after the procedure took me around a week before the swelling came down and the pain stopped. I was advised not to do any heavy lifting or physical exercise during that time and in truth, I felt pretty good after just 3 days. The key to recovery is to constantly monitor your breasts for any abnormal changes which you may have spotted. The reason why this is so important is that should something go wrong, the sooner that you get it looked at the better.
The results of the procedure are more than I could ever have hoped for, I love the way my clothes fit, I feel more outgoing and sociable and no longer do I feel self conscious when I am topless.
